STORY:
Recitatif by Toni Morrison
Recitatif is Toni Morrison’s only published short story. It can be found for free at this link and is also available in book form with an amazing introduction by Zadie Smith.
If you are interested in borrowing or buying the book, I highly recommend listening to the introduction and story on audio. Zadie Smith reads her introduction and Bahni Turpin (my favorite narrator) narrates the short story. My favorite ways to listen to audiobooks are through the Libby app at my library or through Libro.fm which supports my favorite independent book store.
